S.T.A.T.E. Testing L.L.C. was founded in 2000 to provide professional services related to the mix design, quality control and quality assurance of asphalt and concrete. In 2001, we expanded our services to include aggregate and soils. In 2002, we opened a satellite lab in Chicago?s north side. In 2003, we added a full service lab to serve the south side of Chicago. As our business has continued to grow, we have maintained our original staff of key personnel. This has enabled us to maintain our close relationship with longstanding clients, while bringing our experience to our newer business relationships.

We believe that our success can be attributed to a good business plan, hard work by our team, and the good fortune to have worked with a variety of terrific clients and God?s faithfulness.

Our business plan was to provide materials management services that go beyond simple testing. We believe that when tests are used to control quality, there is less likelihood that acceptance tests will fail. Thus, our practice is centered on quality control and quality assurance.

We have worked with state agencies, counties, and cities to help implement the Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) program initiated by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). This program has improved the quality of construction for public and private owners.

We have performed mix designs, plant calibration, and quality control for a variety of contractors. We have provided materials management services for several major design firms. And, we have provided materials oversight for a number of counties and municipalities. We provide in-house Mix Design and QC/QA training for Cook County's Resident Engineers.

We have been contracted by IDOT to develop SMA (Stone Matrix Asphalt) and SML (Sand Mixture Layer) Superpave Mix Designs under Profession Transportation Bulletin (PTB) 113 and 118, and have acted as their liaison for Quality Assurance under PTB 112. We have developed and instruct a Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) Level III Certification Course offered through Lake Land College for IDOT. We are also currently instructing a course in Superpave for Local Roads for the Department.

S.T.A.T.E. Testing, L.L.C. is an independent engineering consultant firm. We specialize in the testing and consultation of construction materials. Our concrete, hot mix asphalt and aggregate labs are approved and certified by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). The AASHTO Materials and Research Laboratories (AMRL) and the Cement and Concrete Research Laboratory (CCRL) also accredit these labs. This accreditation is recognized by IDOT and FHWA for qualification to conduct acceptance and referee testing.
